This Just In...

Quick post before heading to dinner with my family for my birthday tomorrow!

Just got these beauties in the store before leaving work today...

Jeffrey Campbell
I always thought Jeffery Campbells were expensive top-of-the-line sort of shoes.  I actually found this picture on a website where this was the ($129) "steal" as opposed to a pair of Celine wedges (which would retail for hundreds btw).  It's all about perspective, I guess.  And I know, I know... I have about 4 or 5 shoes this color but I just think I need them in my wardrobe.  What do you guys think?  Is the wedge ridiculous? or tre chic?  Voice your opinion in the comments!

My Fashionable Friends: Chandler

In this new segment I will be spotlighting my friends and how they dress fashionably at an affordable price!

Chandler is more than a friend to me...she is my sister!  Here she is in her 3 favorite outfits, and a little Q&A about her tastes and fashion choices:

Blazer: Guess, 80% off post-Christmas
Jeans: J. Brand skinny - FC
Tank: Express, 2 for 1
Flats: Target
A: How would you describe your style?
C: I like to think of it as business casual, but I’ve had it called sexy secretary by others.

A: What are some of your favorite brands/designers/places to shop?
C: I’m a big fan of H&M because they have what I look for, and it’s affordable. For splurging or basics I shop The Limited and Express fairly often. And of course, having a sister working at The Fairy Circle, I love it there as well.

Shirt: Target, on sale
Shorts: Express, on sale
Wedges: Rack Room, Bogo
Belt: vintage, from Mom
A: If you had to narrow it down, which 3 items could you not live without? or Which 3 items are the key pieces/must-haves of your wardrobe?
C: My J-brand skinnies. My white high waist shorts. My black and white plaid button-up shirt.

A: What is the one accessory or piece of clothing you can never buy enough of?
C: Jackets. I love love love jackets.

A: Who would you say is/are your style inspiration/s?
C: I’m not really sure, probably something like a modern Jackie Kennedy. Just professional looking.

Dress: Express, 40% off
Heels: Kohl's
Necklace: Mom's, turned around
A: Which trend will you try this summer/which trend will you definitely not try?
C: Wide leg. I have larger hips, and short legs...actually I’m just short overall. They would just not work on me.

A: Do you plan your outfits or just throw on something from your closet in the mornings?
C: I plan my outfits in the morning. There’s thought that goes into them, but not prior to morning....Except special events. Those I plan the night before, but sometimes think about for a few days.

A: What could you use more of in your wardrobe?
C: Ha, everyone in my life tells me I need color.

So, that is Chandler's style in 3 outfits.  She definitely knows how to dress for her body type as well as how to shop for bargains!  I like how each outfit is flattering and different while staying true to her style.  To copy Chandler's style, here are some of the key pieces you'll need ($39.99 or less):

I hope you enjoyed this segment as it showcases different styles and tastes that you may not see in my posts!  Which outfit was your favorite?  How would you describe your unique style???

Inspiration: Mad Men

So, today was a very inspiring day for me (while checking my email).  I've been wanting to do this post anyway but decided to go ahead after I found out about the MadMen-inspired collection coming out at Banana Republic stores this fall via The Budget Babe (check her out if you haven't already: http://www.thebudgetbabe.com/).  Here are a few pics from the upcoming collection:

I have been wanting to do a Mad Men Inspiration post because my friend and I will be attending a "We Miss Mad Men" event this Thursday!  It is a free event where vintage vendors will be showcasing their finds, Mad Men re-runs will be playing, and there will be a costume contest!!!  I will be taking my camera so expect lots of pictures sometime next week but for now, here is some inspiration for you:
Meet the ladies:
Quintessential icon: Jackie O
The late Elizabeth Taylor in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof
Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffanys
Marilyn Monroe
And, of course, runway inspiration:
Balenciaga ad circa 1950s
Prada cat eye sunglasses, fall 2010
Louis Vuitton was clearly inspired by
late 50s/early 60s fashion, fall 2010 runway
Do you love Mad Men?  Do you love the fashion of the late 50s/early 60s as much as I do???  Let me know what you think of the upcoming collection for Banana Republic and stay tuned for my "We Miss Mad Men" event coverage!

Neutral Stripes

I love stripes and the Spring/Summer season is the perfect time to sport this trend!  Designers went crazy with stripes this season, especially in bold colors:
Marc Jacobs, Prada, Fendi
Prada campaign
(last 3 photos via elle.com, visit for list of designers)
As you might recall bright, bold stripes are on my wishlist...but for now, I have settled with nautical and neutral stripes.  I do love a good neutral as it goes with anything and allows plenty of creativity with accessories.  It also transitions well to Fall/Winter as seen on the Thakoon runway and Prada's more F/W-friendly bag:

Here is my take on the neutral stripe look (that I will still be wearing into the Fall, thus maximizing my wardrobe!):
Banana Republic top - FC ($7.50)
Delia's jeans - Uptown Cheapskate via Mom
Vintage Salvatore Ferragamo heels - FC ($12)
Vintage gold chain necklace + belt - FC ($5)
Vintage LV speedy - gifted from Mom
I paired it with gold for an all-neutral look (which I'm really loving right now).  For your very own version of neutral stripes click on any of these fab finds (all $50 or less):

Do you wear stripes?  What's your favorite: neutral, nautical, or bold? Let me know or post your look in the comments!
