But in the meantime, I've been falling asleep dreaming of layered-up looks and pack-able outfits. The trip will be 6 days and 5 nights. After checking the weather, the highs are 60s/70s and the lows mid 40s. I will need a fancy outfit for the party, an outfit or two for the plane ride and, of course, many more in between. My plan is to pack a lot of layered outfits so that no matter what the weather is like, I'll be prepared.
There are a variety of sources out there for help with packing for a trip. I love this post by J's Everyday Fashion, and I've even done a packing for a (short) trip post of my own in part 1 & part 2, and of course Kendi's 30x30 challenge could serve as packing-inspiration (see Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer). I found this photo-diagram on pinterest offering practical advice and tips:
Just a few layered-looks to serve as packing inspiration/get your creative juices flowing:

What do you guys think?
Do you have any advice for packing for a trip???
Are there any outfits I've posted that you think I just have to take with me?

I swear I think I just pinned all of these pictures from you on Pinterest. I love the layered look with the plaid but my favorite right now is the outfit with the heart sweater. Maybe it is because <3 is around the corner or the fact that I love quirky prints but I love that look a lot.

loved your vacation packing tips! One advice - pick your heaviset items and wear it going there and coming back. that way you can fit more in your suitcase! :)

Oooh I love that heart sweater and I agree-layering is key! I always roll my clothes so that I can fit more into the suitcase. Have a fab time in Arizona-take lots of pics so we can live vicariously through you!
I am quite lousy at packing, usually end up packing things that are not so versatile. thanks for the tips, they are very helpful. Arizona looks so scenic and beautiful...have a really awesome trip. please wish grandma happy birthday for me. And hapoy new year Amanda!

I LOVE packing...my first tip would be to roll your clothing rather than fold it. Saves bunches of room and keeps wrinkles out :)
Other than that...I'd just pick two pairs of leggings/pants, a nice versatile skirt, and two versatile dresses. Then add a couple button-downs, a couple sweaters, and a couple shirts that can all be mixed and matched. Once you have those clothes picked out, add a nice scarf and a few necklaces and belts. That way you can layer tops over your skirt/pants/dresses but jazz it up with the accessories you brought. And if everything EVERYTHING you bring can be worn mix-matched, then you end up feeling like you've got more options :)

Adorable inspiration outfits. I usually put together as many outfits for the days I'll be there, and throw in a few extras like tees and hoodies. Enjoy your trip!

Have a great trip. I'm going to AZ in March for baseball! We go every year during spring training. SF Giants fans.

These outfits are adorable!!! Love them!
I love the location photos you put up. I'd love to go back to Arizona one day. The setting is the perfect place to show off your love of 70s colours. An oversized scarf and comfy cardigan are essential travel gear for me.
