Another Look at Contrast Colors: An eShakti Review

I was recently contacted by eShakti, asking if I would be interested in doing a product review.  I've seen a number of other bloggers reviewing eShakti products recently, so I excitedly replied that I would, of course, be interested.
eShakti skirt - c/o
Inhabit long sleeve top - FC ($18)
Vintage espadrilles - FC@MJ ($14)
Vintage orange purse - FC ($10)
Lucky Brand necklace, FC; chain bracelet, FC
As soon as I was contacted, I started looking at the website.  They have so many fabulous choices in all sorts of shapes, colors, and styles.  Many of their dresses have a ladylike, vintage vibe and many of them reminded me of my sister, whose style has been referred to as "sexy secretary" (check her style out here).

I knew I wanted a skirt and, after seeing Style Journey's eshakti review, I was looking for something without a zipper.  My first instinct was this skirt, entitled "Brick in the Wall" skirt because:
  • the pattern and color is so unique and unlike anything I already have in my wardrobe
  • the vintage-apron-style really appealed to me
  • couldn't help but love the Pink Floyd reference in the name
The really cool part about ordering items from eShakti is that you have the option to order a regular size OR opt for custom-sizing.  I decided to go with a custom size because of my super-petite frame.  When I tried the skirt on, if fit almost perfectly.  Unfortunately, it didn't quite fit on my waist.  Now, this could be because I took these pictures early in the morning, before I had eaten anything, when I (and everyone for that matter) am my thinnest.  Perhaps if I wore a thicker top or sweater it would fit better.  I could also try a belt, though I hate to cover-up the cute buttons.

For this photo-shoot, I just pinned it in the back (as you can see in the picture below):
About my outfit:  Right after I received my eShakti skirt in the mail, I saw these fabulous vintage flat espadrilles in the Monkey Junction store.  I took it as a sign, brought them home, and styled my outfit around the skirt-and-shoes combination.  To keep the rest of the outfit simple, I added my new navy top and minimally accessorized with contrast-colored (orange) accessories.

All around, I was very pleased with my eShakti skirt.  I plan to try it with a neutral top, my Dex boots, and possibly even a belt in the future.  I would definitely recommend eShakti to anyone with an unusual size (because of their custom sizing option) as well as to anyone looking for the perfect dress for a special occasion - they would even make great (and affordable) bridesmaids dresses for a casual wedding!

Do any of you have any experience with eShakti?
I'd love to hear your opinions/thoughts/reviews!!!

And don't forget: it's still not too late to link-up to the Best Form of Flattery!  2nd edition: Atlantic-Pacific is open through Sunday and the inspiration for next week is up too, check it all out here!  Thank you to all who have already joined in on the fun!

What a great skirt! Good call on getting something without a zipper, because there were several reviews regarding broken zippers. The shoes and purse look fantastic with the skirt. Can't wait for the link up this weekend. I already have my outfit planned :) Heather

I love the styling on this outfit. How unfortunate that the skirt doesn't quite fit your waist, because it really is great.

Hey Amanda! I just did a review for them last Friday. I loved my dress. It's the second dress I've ordered from them. Both of them worked. Here's the link:

Your skirt is cute! I love vintage looks as well. Get someone to take it up in the waist. It's too cute not to wear. Love your shoes! They are SO CUTE!!! Glad you were pleased with them. You look great! :D

first of all great job styling the skirt. I like button down skirts, they are so hard to find nowadays. The buttons are big and cute. This blue color ensemble looks great on you! Oh... your waist is super tiny, I like the shoes by the way, great find.
