The Best Form of Flattery: Ralph Lauren edition

Another outfit inspired by the runway looks of classic designer, Ralph Lauren:
Vintage skirt - FC ($8)
Paul & Joe button down - FC ($7.50)
Vintage belt - thrifted, BB ($2)
Pink Studio wedges - FC ($12)
Vintage Dooney & Bourke purse - FC ($40)
Silk scarf worn as bow tie - FC ($4)
Vintage unicorn earrings - FC ($6)

I took the inspiration to pair a fancy skirt with a western-inspired button down from this Ralph Lauren look:

As soon as I saw this southwestern-inspired collection of Ralph Lauren, I loved it!  First of all, I love anything southwestern.  But mostly, I love the unexpected combination of fancy and casual for a variety of reasons: it expands your wardrobe by letting you think outside the box, you get to wear those "special occasion" pieces, and it makes for an eye-catching combination.

About my outfit:  I didn't have the exact pieces in the picture above so I just used it as inspiration.  I chose my fancy pleated skirt and anchored it down with my new denim button snap down.  It needed a belt so I thew on my go-to.  The heels combine black and brown, tying everything together.  I finished off the look with a scarf-bow tie - I've been seeing this on tons of other bloggers and wanted to give it a try myself, I loved how it turned out!  My sparkly gold unicorn earrings add one last dash of fancy.

So there you have it, folks!  I hope you enjoyed my looks directly inspired by classic designers with a celebrity tossed in the mix.  We can find inspiration in so many varying places, things, and ideas!  Did you enjoy this "The Best Form of Flattery" segment?  If you missed any, you can click here to see J. Crew inspiration or click here to see some celebrity inspiration.

Have you ever mixed a very fancy piece with something casual?

This is a great fancy/casual outfit. It's amazing at how versatile a denim shirt can be! I have a cobalt blue midi that I thrifted that would look great with my denim shirt. Thanks for the inspiration! Heather

Its such as you read my thoughts! You appear to understand so much about this, such as
you wrote the guide in it or something. I think that you simply could do with a few percent to power
the message home a little bit, but instead of that, that is excellent blog.
An excellent read. I'll definitely be back.
