Scarf-Inspired

We can find inspiration in so many ways!  Take today's outfit, for example...I would have never thought to combine these colors if it hadn't been for this scarf my Mom gave me:
Delia's skinny jeans - thrift gift from Mom, Uptown Cheapskate
Zara t-shirt - FC ($6)
Vintage Dex boots - FC ($24)
Picasso silk scarf - gifted by Mom from Italy
Anthropologie purse - Xmas gift from Mom
Wrap-around bracelet - FC; Vintage necklace - thrifted, BB

About my outfit:  The weather is getting cooler and I'm taking full advantage: boots, sweaters, scarves...I'm loving it!  I knew I wanted to wear this scarf my Mom brought me back from Italy (it actually is a Picasso design, I'll have to take a picture of it laying flat) and it dawned on me that I had a piece in every color.  So I wore my olive tee as a neutral with the scarf as a pop around my neck.  The vintage boots pull out the brick-red and the mustard cardi adds another fun touch.  I love these earth tones and think they are perfect for Fall!

What are some innovative forms of inspiration for you?

And speaking of inspiration, I got a lot of positive feedback regarding my "Best Form of Flattery" mini-series. If you missed it, check it out here, here, and here.  Anyway, it got me thinking of doing it once a week and inviting you all to join!  I know a lot of bloggers do inspiration link-ups already but I think it would be fun...what do you think?  Would you like to continue the "Best Form of Flattery" mini-series by suggesting inspiration photos and joining in on all the fun?  Please let me know!

Isn't it amazing how just one item can create a whole outfit? This scarf is amazing! Scarves are one of the most under-utilized accessories I think. I probably have about 30 of them! The boots are fantastic too.

I love pulling inspiration from various places, so I would definitely do your series (Kayla too). We thought about doing an inspiration remix for our weekly Mother/Daughter remixes.

I love it when you add that one item to a outfit that just completes the look....this is a great outfit for fall.
Thanks for stopping by my blog. I'm happy to discover another thrift devotee and am now following! Your best form of flattery miniseries is great too; I've been wanting to do something similar on mine but using other bloggers...might be a little creepy though. PS: Let me know how the portobellos turn out if you make them!

I LOVE how you spun a whole outfit just from a scarf! I own mostly solid-colored scarves so I can't play this game of yours :)

Definitely keep the inspiration series coming - I very much enjoy your take on others' outfits.

I love drawing inspiration from the colors on an existing textile. I haven't done it, but my friend dressed in the colors of a rug she liked, too, haha. I tend to get inspired by texture more than color.

I do create an outfit around one single item.. but that's rare.. maybe if i have a pair of shoes that i really want to wear or a new scarf, i do it!

I love how colorful you look and how all the colors complement each other so well!
