Little Princess on the Prairie

Today marks the first day of summer and what better way to welcome the warm hot weather than with an eazy, breezy prairie skirt!  I love and live in skirts for the summer time: they are cool and comfortable, come in all lengths, patterns, and styles, and they still allow for a little creativity and layering for your outfit!

The prairie skirt is a fun way to let your inner cowgirl shine through and many designers were using that cowboy inspiration on the runway:
Ralph Lauren classically combines brown & white
for a polished cowboy look
Acne accessorizes with a cowboy hat, boots and feathers
Derek Lam uses bold neutrals to make a statement

Here is my take on the cowboy-inspired look (inspired most by Ralph Lauren):
Free People prairie skirt - FC ($14)
American Eagle cami - from Mom
Vintage belt - thrifted ($2)
Pink Studio Wedges - FC ($12)
Abercrombie denim button down as jacket - FC ($8)
Forever 21 sunglasses - F21 ($5)
Vintage Dooney & Bourke purse - FC ($40)
Handmade by Idle Hands Designs feather earrings -FC ($20)
I'd like to show you a close up of these awesome handmade feather earrings I'm wearing:
These handmade feather-in-bullet-shell-casing earrings by Idle Hands Designs are available at some local shops (both Fairy Circle locations) and also online at etsy: www.etsy.com/shop/idlehandsdesigns4U in all colors! Check them out!!!

Here are some of my choices to complete your cowboy-inspired look (all under $100):

What do you think of cowboy-inspired outfits for summer?  How do you wear this trend?
